Trojans shut  out Crimson at home

Box Score 5/10/2023

Wayzata 6, Maple Grove 0

Brady Lash took the mound for the Trojans and threw a complete game gem. Sam Kliber tried to match him for the Crimson with a shutout inning to start the game, thanks in part to a double play turned by Kaden Harney, Gavin Kustermann and Hunter Gerber. Gerber and Kellen Riskedahl each singled in the bottom of the first, attempting to start a two-our rally. It was to know avail, though, as Lash induced a ground out to end the inning. Tanner Albeck grabbed a couple of singles (2 for 3 for the game) of his own on the day, but the Trojan pitcher held the remaining Crimson batters to one other hit (Brady Aubut) throughout his seven innings. Lash's final line: seven innings, five hits, zero walks, eight strikeouts.

For Maple Grove, Kliber was not as sharp as he had been this season, giving up eleven hits and six runs (five earned) over his six innings, striking out four and walking one; and taking the loss. Evan O'Dwyer came in for the seventh inning and was greeted by two hard hit balls for a single and a double. However, the freshman didn't wilt under the pressure and got some help from his defense, as he induced two ground balls for outs - with the infield in, to prevent runs - before striking out the final Trojan batter of the day. O'Dwyer's line: one inning, two hits, one strikeout, no runs allowed.
