Crimson bust out for 7-1 victory over STMA

Sam Hagen (W, 5IP, 1R, 2H, 4K) took the mound for the Crimson and pitched five (5) strong innings, giving up a lone solo home run in the top of the first. The Maple Grove hitters struck back in the bottom of the first, scoring their own run on two singles (Nathan Schmidt, Kellen Riskedahl), a walk (Evan O'Dwyer), and an RBI fielder's choice (Connor Johnson). The Crimson took the lead for good in the third when Riskedahl drove in Schmidt with an RBI ground out after Schmidt had doubled and been sacrificed over by Beckett Shimpa.

Adding to their lead in both the fourth and fifth innings with a three (3) and two (2) runs, respectively, the Maple Grove bats showed out in force, with some walks and plate discipline to boost their efforts. Schmidt led the way at the dish, going 3/3 with a walk, a double, two runs scored, and two RBI. Brody Berglin wasn't far behind, going 2/3 with a walk, a double, two runs scored, and two RBI of his own. Other hits came from Dylan Vokal (1/1, 2B), Riskedahl (1/3, RBI), Kaden harney (1/4), and Connor Wihlm (1/3, BB). Shimpa (2IP, 0R, 2H, 2K) closed things out on the hill for the Crimson as they improved their overall record to 2-2 (1-2 in NWSC).
