Spring Lake Park 4/9/2024

Crimson shutout by Bentott, SLP Panthers

Box Score 4/9/2024

Spring Lake Park 3, Maple Grove 3

Maple Grove loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the first as Nathan Schmidt was hit by a pitch and both Kellen Riskedahl and Brady Aubut drew walks. However, the Crimson left them loaded to end the inning. Sam Hagen (L, 4IP, 4H 1R 2BB, 5K) started on the mound for the Crimson and recorded two quick outs as Brady Aubut shot down a Panther trying to stretch a single into a double, and then recorded a fly out from the two hitter as well. Two 2-out walks followed and a single from the SLP 5-hitter brought in the game's first run.

The score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the fifth inning, when a single, and a sac bunt off of Crimson reliever Bjorn Nelson put a runner on second with one out. The Panther's 3-hitter blasted a 2-run home run to move the score to 3-0, SLP. Matthew Johnson (IP, 0H, 0R, BB, 2K) came in to pitch a scoreless bottom of the sixth inning for MG, but the Crimson sticks could never drive in a run and the game ended 3-0. Evan O'Dwyer doubled on a 1/3 day at the plate, while Kaden Harney, Beckett Shimpa, and Maddex Van Slooten also had hits for the Crimson squad. Bentott (6.2IP 4H 0R 4BB 7K) got the win for SLP, with Peterson coming in for the 1-out save.
