Crimson can't come up with big hits, fall to Falcons, 3-1

Maple Grove scored a lone run in the fourth inning, but couldn't provide another big hit to score runs and lost at Armstrong, 3-1. Hunter Gerber went the distance on the mound, surrendering 3 runs (1 earned) while spreading seven hits and one walk over six innings, striking out nine. Gerber moves to 1-4 on the year, with a 2.30 ERA. Meanwhile, at the plate, Sam Kliber (2 for 3 on the day, .324 for the season) maintained his consistency in the lead-off spot, singling to lead off the game, and adding a perfectly executed bunt single in the sixth. Gerber and Nathan Schmidt provided the only other hits on the day for the Crimson. The MG offense did get runners on in each of the final three innings; however, no Crimson batter could provide the big hit to even the score with the Falcons.
