Farley walks it off with a bases loaded three-run double
Box Score 5/20/2026
Maple Grove 8, Minnetonka 7
With a flash for the dramatic, the Crimson used Senior day as another comeback show. Down 7-4 entering the bottom of the seventh and down to their last strike with the bases loaded, senior Ian Farley (1/4 2B 3RBI) doubled down the right field line to clear the bases and bring home the victory.
Minnetonka drew first blood in the game, scoring a run in the top of the first, but junior Beckett Shimpa (1/2 HR BB HBP 3R RBI) replied in the bottom half of the inning with a lead-off home run and Maple Grove scored another run on a bases loaded hit-by-pitch to take a 2-1 lead after one. The Skippers rebounded quickly with four more runs in the second while the Crimson could only scratch one run across in their half on junior Vince Lenmark's (1/3 HR R RBI) first home run of the season, setting the score at 5-3. Both teams put up zeroes in the third and fourth, and then in the fifth Tonka and MG matched each other with a run a piece.
In the sixth, the visitors added what looked to be an insurance run, bringing the margin to three runs (7-4) as the home nine were thwarted in the bottom half. Sophomore Brogan Stowe (W 3.2IP 5H ER 2K) continued his relief efforts, shutting out the Skippers in the seventh and setting the stage for the Crimson bats. Shimpa walked to start the frame and senior Preston Berg (2/4) followed with a single to left. Two fielder's choices followed, scoring one run and narrowing the margin to two. Junior Damian Seubert (2/2 2B HBP SF R RBI) singled to left and senior Connor Wihlm (0/2 BB HBP RBI) walked to load the bases with two outs. Farley took a ball and two strikes before fouling one off and then hitting the next 1-2 pitch over the first baseman's head and downt he right field line, clearing the bases and winning the game.
