Hit Barrage Scores 10 Runs in Crimson Victory
Box Score 4/10/2025
Maple Grove 10, Centennial 4
It took a couple innings to get going, but when the Crimson bats woke up, they wouldn't stop before scoring ten (10) runs in the Maple Grove victory at Centennial. Sophomore Becket Shimpa (3IP, 2ER, 0H, 6BB, 5K) toed the rubber to start the contest, after which junior Ian Farley (W, 2IP, 1ER, 3H, 3BB, 2K), and senior Brody Berglin (2IP, 0R, 0H, BB, 2K) came on to effectively hold the Cougars at bay.
The Crimson bats pounded out fourteen (14) hits in the contest, including multi-hit games from sophomore Vince Lenmark (2/4, BB, RBI, SB), junior Oliver Taynton (2/3, 2x2B, 2BB, 2R), and seniors Connor Johnson (3/5, 2x2B, 3R, 2RBI) and Maddex Van Slooten (2/3, R, 3RBI). Shimpa, Berglin, and juniors Connor Wihlm and Gavin Kustermann also doubled on the day.
With two runs in the bottom of the first, Centennial took an early lead; however, the visiting bats broke their silence in the third with a lone run, followed by two more in the fourth, and three runs in the fifth. The Cougar offense sparked their final two runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to 6-4. But the Crimson bats kept their pace and responded with three more runs in the sixth and another run in the seventh to finish the scoring. Berglin shut down Centennial firmly without allowing a single hit in the sixth or seventh and Maple Grove rode home safely with the win.
