Sophs combine on shutout, Crimson bats bust out for fourteen hits
Box Score 5/6/2026
Maple Grove 9, Eden Prairie 0
Sophomore Brogan Stowe (W 6IP 6H BB 6K) took the hill for the Crimson and tempered the Eagle bats for six innings before fellow sophomore Jonny Bulthuis (IP H 0R) came on in his varsity debut to close the contest out. All the while, the Maple Grove bats spoke volumes, making loud outs even when one of their fourteen hits weren't falling.
It took a few innings to plate some runs, but in the top of third senior Joey Limric (3/4 2B BB 2R RBI) led off with a double and scored two batters later on senior Preston Berg's (3/4 2R RBI) single. A walk and an error scored a second run before a double play ended the inning. After a scoreless fourth, a bases loaded double from junior Beckett Shimpa (1/4 2B 3RBI) raised the Crimson lead to 5-0. Junior Vince Lenmark (1/4 SF 3RBI) added on with a two-run single in the sixth inning, and Maple Grove increased the final tally to nine runs with an RBI single from Limric and a sac fly from Lenmark in the ninth. After a solid start from Stowe, Bulthuis used eight pitches (six strikes) to take the Crimson home.
