Crimson score early and cruise to home opening victory
Box Score 4/5/2025
Maple Grove 6, Roseville 3
Junior Evan O'Dwyer (W, 4IP, 2H, 0R, 6K) pitched four scoreless innings for the win as Maple Grove shut down Roseville completely through the first six innings. Senior Ian Schock (SV, 3IP, 3H, 0ER, K) came on for the three-inning save, staving off three unearned runs in the top of the seventh to secure a Crimson victory at Gleason Fields.
The home team scored five runs in the second, with singles from Schock (1/3, SB, R), senior Brody Berglin (1/4, R, RBI), and junior Kaden Harney (2/4, 2B, SB, 2RBI) scattered in front of and behind three consecutive walks and a Raiders error. Crimson batters added an insurance run in the sixth when junior Oliver Taynton reached on a walk , advanced to third base on junior Connor Wihlm's (1/1, 2BB, 2B) double, and adeptly scored on a pitch that scooted a short distance away from the Roseville catcher.
After a strikeout to start the seventh, a walk, an error and a wild pitch started a rally for the Raiders. Another single scored the final two runs for Roseville before Schock got a final fly for out number twenty-one and a Crimson victory in game one of the 2025 season.
