Elks hit early and often, beat Crimson by ten

Box Score 4/26/2023

Elk River 14, Maple Grove 4

Maple Grove jumped out to an early lead with an error, ground out, wild pitch, and single in the top of the first. But it was short lived as the Elks started their own rally quickly in the bottom of the first and created what became an insurmountable lead. The Crimson closed the gap to 9-4 in the top of the fifth; however, the Elks plated another run in the bottom of the fifth, and then finished the game with a four-run sixth.

Hunter Gerber (2/2, 2RBI, BB) had two of MG's three hits, including a two-run double to right-center. Although Maple Grove stung the ball a number of times over the course of the game, Kaden Harney was the only other Crimson player to reach safely with a single in three at bats. Zeth Petrie started the game on the mound and took the loss. Evan O'Dwyer relieved him, giving up two earned runs over five innings and keeping MG in the game. However, Jacob Yoho and Kaden Harney couldn't quite finish the contest and the Elks ended up with a 10-run victory in six innings.
