Crimson score first but Rebels score more and win in Section play
Box Score 5/28/2026
Champlin Park 6, Maple Grove 3
Maple Grove came out swinging, scoring a run in the top of the first. Senior Joey Limric (1/3 BB R) led off with a chopped single to the left single and advanced to second on a Rebel error. Junior Beckett Shimpa (1/4) followed with a hard ground ball up the middle that the second baseman dove to keep on the infield. After a strikeout, senior Oliver Taynton (1/4 RBI) drove in Limric with a hot shot fielder's choice. That would be it for scoring in the top half of the inning, but the Champlin Park bats also started early, scoring four runs of their own in the bottom half.
Junior Damian Seubert (5IP 3H 2R 2K) came on in relief in the second, keeping CP within reach for the remainder of the game. However, while the MG offense put runners on base regularly, they could not drive many in, hitting .077 with runners in scoring position for the day. Seniors Preston Berg (2/4 2x2B 2R) and Ian Farley (2/2 BB) had multiple-hit days for the Crimson, but the Rebels came out on top 6-3, advancing to the winners bracket final, while Maple Grove moves to an elimination game on Saturday morning at 10am.
