Centennial plates runs in the 5th and 7th to beat the Crimson at home

Box Score 4/25/2023

Centennial 5, Maple Grove 4

With Vann Olson toeing the mound for MG, the Cougars pushed across two runs in the top of the first; however, Vann held the visitors scoreless for the next three innings. The Crimson batters bided their time until the bottom of the third, and then scored three of their own behind a Kaden Harney lead-off double, a single from Dylan Vokal, a HBP for Olson, a walk for Tanner Albeck, a couple of Centennial errors, and a steal of home by Olson to cap the 3-run inning. MG scored another run in the fourth, as Harney again came up clutch with an RBI single to score Cayden Vokal (who reached on a fielder's choice after a Kellen Riskedahl single).

That would be the end of the scoring for Maple Grove. With the score sitting at 4-2, the Cougars rallied for two in the fifth inning and the game-winning fifth tally in the top of the seventh. Hunter Gerber pitched the final two innings for the Crimson and took the loss. Tyler Gruye pitched the final three innings for Centennial, giving up one lone hit and earning the victory.

Gerber, Riskedahl, C. Vokal, and D. Vokal each reached base on singles for the home team. Harney led the way for Maple Grove with two hits in three at bats, a run scored, and an RBI.
