Crimson Bring the Bats to Edina
Box Score 5/15/2025
Maple Grove 12, STMA 8
The Crimson belted out eleven hits, including five extra-base hits while scoring twelve runs and besting the Hornets in a non-conference game at Edina. Senior Connor Johnson (1/2, HR, 2R, 2RBI, 2BB) exited the yard with his third home run of the week to cap a six-run fourth for Maple Grove. The inning started with singles from junior Preston Berg (2/4, BB, SB, 2R, 2RBI) and sophomore Vince Lenmark (3/4, SB, R; 0.2IP, 0H, 0R, K), followed by a sacrifice fly from senior Ian Schock (SAC, SF, 2RBI) to start the scoring. Senior Maddex Van Slooten (1/3, R, 2RBI) followed with an RBI single, then junior Joey Limric (1/4, 2B, BB, 2R, RBI) doubled to bring in a run, and junior Kaden Harney (1/2, 2B, BB, HBP, R, RBI; 2IP, 1H, 0R) struck with a run-scoring double as well.
With the score at 6-0 in the visitors' favor, Edina responded with three runs of their own to cut the lead in half in the bottom of the inning. Berg led off the top half of the following inning with a walk, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on Schock's suicide squeeze bunt. Harney held the Hornets helpless for their half of the fifth, and the Crimson offense exploded for five more runs in the sixth with five consecutive walks followed by a 2-run single from Berg, another single from Lenmark, and a sacrifice fly from Van Slooten. Edina scored five runs in the seventh to cut the lead back to four runs, but Lenmark entered to shut the door for Maple Grove. Senior Brody Berglin (W, 4IP, 5H, 3ER, 4K) was the starter and winning pitcher for the Crimson.
