Section 5AAAA play started with a competitive victory for the Crimson, as junior Matthew Kuno (W, 5.2IP, 3H, 1ER, 6K) started on the mound and pitched solidly for the win, while senior Ian Schock (SV, 1.1IP, 0H, 0R, 2K) got the last four outs for his sixth save of the year. The Panthers scored an early run on a couple of singles and a stolen base in the second and followed that up with an unearned run in the fourth to take a 2-0 lead on the Crimson. But the visitors would rally back with a run of their own in the fifth on a double from junior Connor Wihlm (1/3, 2B) and an RBI single from sophomore Vince Lenmark (1/3, RBI). After shutting down SLP in the bottom of the fifth, the Crimson tallied two more in the sixth to take the lead for good. Senior Maddex Van Slooten (1/1, BB, R) singled to start the inning, and junior Joey Limric (HBP, R) followed by reaching base on a hit-by-pitch. A sacrifice bunt followed and set up sophomore Beckett Shimpa's (1/3, 2RBI) two-run single. Kuno got the first two outs of the bottom half of the inning before giving way to Schock to finish it off.
