O'Dwyer Deals in No-hit Victory for Crimson
Box Score 5/29/2025
Maple Grove 1, Osseo
In a Section 5AAAA rematch of Northwest Suburban Conference and intra-district rivals, the story was junior Evan O'Dwyer's (W, CG, 7IP, 0H, 0R, 1BB, 6K) no-hit performance on the mound. O'Dwyer started his mastery early with a 1-2-3 first that included a swinging strikeout to end the inning. The junior's loan baserunner allowed came on a full-count walk with two outs in the second, after which he returned to form, getting the final sixteen outs of the game consecutively.
Maple Grove had baserunners in a couple innings early, but could not push across a run, stranding a one-out walk in the second and a lead-off triple from junior Kaden Harney (1/3, 3B) in the fourth. In the fifth, the Crimson finally put together the run they would need. Junior Connor Wihlm (1/2) led off with a single, junior Preston Berg moved courtesy runner senior Ian Schock to second with a sacrifice bunt, and sophomore Vince Lenmark (1/2, RBI) belted a single to left to score Schock. The fifth-inning run held up as O'Dwyer continued to deal and his defense played flawlessly behind him, led by Berg's four assists at the hot corner.
That makes seven. Next up: Champlin Park at CPHS Baseball Field on Saturday, 5pm.
