Pitchers' Duel Ends in 2-1 Loss for Crimson
Box Score 5/6/2025
Champlin Park 2, Maple Grove 1
Junior Matthew Kuno (L, 6IP, 5IP, 2R, 0BB, 4K) used only 72 pitches to throw a complete game for the Crimson; however, Champlin Park's Evan Nordby one-upped him with an 81-pitch, one-run effort to take the seven-inning complete-game victory for the Rebels. With zero walks and no errors in the contest, the game played fairly clean, with junior Kaden Harney (2/3, R) providing the only multiple-hit game for any player on either side.
True to tradition, Maple Grove scored their lone run on senior Maddex Van Slooten's (0/1, SAC, RBI) suicide squeeze in the fifth, tying the game at one. However, Champlin Park answered right back in the bottom half of the inning with a double and an RBI single to retake the lead for good.
