#6 Spring Lake Park Shuts Down #5 Maple Grove to End Crimson Season
Box Score 6/1/2024
Spring Lake Park 6, Maple Grove 0
Senior Sam Hagen (4.2IP, 6H, 0ER, 2K) battled on the hill for four scoreless innings while the Crimson bats stalled as well, taking the game to the fifth with a 0-0 tie. After procuring a fly out to start the top half of the inning, an MG error gave SLP a runner at second base. A ground out followed for a second out, but a walk, a two-run single, and a two-run home run tallied four runs for the Panthers before Brody Berglin (2.1IP, 4H, 2R, 2K) came in to secure the final out of the inning.
Spring Lake Park added insurance runs in the sixth and seventh innings each to make the final 6-0. Maple Grove could produce only three hits on the day - one each from Nathan Schmidt (1/3), Dylan Vokal (1/2), and Connor Wihlm (1/2). The loss gives the Crimson a .500 record for the season and ends section play for the second year in a row at the hands of the Panthers.
