Crimson Take NWSC Finale From Tornadoes at Castle

Sophomore Beckett Shimpa (3IP, 0H, 0R, 2K; 2/4, HR, R, RBI) pitched three no-hit innings to start the game and belted out a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning, giving the Crimson an early 1-0 lead. Anoka responded quickly, scoring their lone run of the game in the bottom half of the fourth to tie the game. While junior Evan O'Dwyer (W, 2IP, 3H, 0R, K) shut down the Tornadoes in the fifth and sixth, junior Oliver Taynton (1/3, HR, R, 2RBI) belted a 2-run homer in the top of the sixth to put the Crimson back up for good. Senior Connor Johnson (2/3, R) remained hot at the plate and senior Ian Schock (SV, IP, 2H, 3K) came in for his fifth save of the year. Maple Grove finishes Northwest Suburban Conference play with a win as they move to the Lake Conference in 2026, and heads to post-season play on a five-game winning streak. Section 5AAAA tournament play is set to begin on Tuesday, May 27th.
