Zephyrs Take Close Game

Mahtomedi jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, slugging out four first inning hits, including a double. After that, junior Matthew Kuno (L, 5IP, 5H, 3ER, K) settled in as Maple Grove plated a solo run in the second and two more in the fourth to take a 3-2 lead. The Zephyrs responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game. After Mahtomedi led off the bottom of fifth with a double, the Crimson couldn't complete the out on a sacrifice bunt and gave up the go-ahead unearned fourth run as the ball rolled in right field.

Junior Evan O'Dwyer (2IP, 0H, 0R, 4K) came in to squelch any more rally from the Zephyrs but the Crimson couldn't produce any runs and took the road loss. Senior Connor Johnson (2/3, BB) stayed hot at the plate for Maple Grove, while junior Kaden Harney (2/3, R) produced two hits of his own.
