Maple Grove scores two in the top of the seventh to upend the Knights

Braden Intrieri (STMA) and Sam Kliber battled on the mound for most of the game as a genuine pitchers' duel developed at St Michael Albertville High School. Intrieri pitched six innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits and 1 walk, while striking out 5. Kliber matched him for most of the game, but the MG nine were less than flawless in the field, committing four errors. Kliber's final line: 5 1/3 innings, 2 runs (0 earned runs) on 2 hits and 0 walks, with 4 strike outs. After giving up a game-tying double in the bottom of the sixth, Kliber exited and Noah Black came in to try to shut down the Knights; however, another run scored on a couple of walks and STMA took a 2-1 lead heading to the seventh.
Down a run, the Crimson led off the inning with a Kaden Harney walk and a Dylan Vokal single to right field. With one out, Tanner Albeck loaded the bases with an infield single (his second hit of the day) and Kliber followed with a hot shot to right field that score the tying and go-ahead runs. With the lead in hand, Maple Grove turned to Hunter Gerber to close the game out on the mound. Three strikeouts followed and the Crimson took home their first victory of the season.
